A Pequena Vendedora de Fósforos / Kyoko Yamashita ( Brazil, 9 min)

This modern version of Andersen work is about same ills of the society at the time the story was written in the 19th century in Europe, that persist in modern societies undergoing "economical developing" : brutal coexistence of wealth and poverty, and the inability of the society to rescue the helpless childhood from the culture of historical indifference. In our time the objects of desire are others but desire for comfort is the same. The protagonist presents marginal behavior with same innocence of character from the original story, as a reflection of the condition in which she lives. There is a vicious cycle in which the delinquency of childhood and adolescence is proportional to the perversity of the system, and we are now at a point where the rehabilitation has become a utopia. In this fragmented society, there is a childhood that gets attention they are entitled, and another that is neglected.
